The setting is the Clayoquot Wilderness Resort's Bedwell River Outpost. It's at the end of a long inlet in Clayoquot Sound, surrounded by snowy peaks, where mist wreathes the tall trees that blanket the slopes.
The only way in is by boat from the fishing village of Tofino or float plane from Vancouver.
We arrive in the evening and the first thing we notice are the huge white, safari- style tents on raised platforms over the river, which are lit by flaming torches. We're met at the jetty by Stetson-wearing owner/manager John Caton, puppy in one arm, grandson in the other. Now catch your breath and look around.

Welcome to Elk Camp
This is elk camp, where hunters embrace the miseries of winter camping to join in time-honored traditions that are tantamount to seven straight Boys' Nights Out sandwiched around grueling days trying to put wild meat in the freezer.
"Elk camp is all about getting back to nature and being with your friends, getting back to how your forefathers hunted," says Luttrell, a 42-year-old Medford resident who works for a beverage distributor.
"Life is so difficult and so hard now," Luttrell says. "This gets us back to simpleness. In elk camp, nothing really matters."

Travellers move on
New age travellers who were camping in the car park at High and Over have moved on.
They were spotted there last week but had left the site by the weekend.
The car park is owned by Seaford Town Council and is managed on their behalf by Lewes District Council.
A spokeswoman for Lewes District Council said, "When we became aware that travellers were in the car park we asked NCP to take enforcement action to prevent them camping overnight in the car park. NCP subsequently issued fixed penalty notices."

Modern Camping
You will find that when it comes to camping, you don't just want to sleep in an tent, but you will want to get a commercial RV and use the commercial campgrounds as an alternative camping experience. You will want to make sure that you think about the alternative camping ways to the sleeping tent. You will want to make sure that you think about some of the basic tips to camping. You will want to think about camping in a way for the traditional camping and the modern camping ways. You will find that there are many elements like the wind and the rain that could ruin a traditional camping vacation; however, it will not ruin an RV camping trip. You can go camping no matter what the weather is like.

Camping fees might take hike
PIERRE - A basic increase of $2 in most daily camping fees at South Dakota state parks is being recommended by the state Game, Fish and Parks Commission. The commission accepted the recommendation of the department staff at a meeting Thursday in Pierre. The fees are scheduled for a public hearing Nov. 1 and 2 in Gettysburg and could be finalized by the commission after the hearing. "The increases we're proposing are basically inflationary increases," said Doug Hofer, director of the department's Division of Parks and Recreation.

Namibia camping and tour, $1,445
Trip details: Much of Namibia remains unspoiled, and the country is known for its wide horizons, contrasting landscapes, and the lowest population density in Africa. (Namibia gained a major burst of fame when Brangelina chose to camp out there for the birth of their child, Shiloh.) Premier Tours' Camping Safari package is made for no-frills adventure seekers. The group sets out from the capital of Windhoek and travels south, stopping in the town of Rehoboth in central Namibia, before reaching the Namib Desert. A four-by-four desert vehicle will be the sole means of transportation throughout the journey. You'll take day and night walks as well as game drives to explore the surrounding flora and fauna. The Drifters Desert Camp next to the protected Namib Rand Nature Reserve is your base for two nights.
