Lake Tahoe camping
Camping is a great way to appreciate the beauty and activities of the Tahoe area; providing an interaction with nature that you’ll never find in a stuffy hotel room. There are many public and private campgrounds around the Tahoe basin – here are 10 to explore:When you’re looking to rise above the summer heat, go up – to the top of Mt. Rose Highway. Locals may have noticed the campground turnoff sign at the summit of Hwy 431, perhaps not realizing that it leads to a picturesque camping spot with access to some of the best high-country hiking in the basin. Wander easily to the Tahoe Meadows to link up with the Tahoe Rim Trail or the Ophir Creek Trail. Trailheads to Slide Mountain and Mt. Rose itself are nearby as well. The campground offers 24 sites and flush toilets. Fees are $13/night. Visit www.reserveamerica.com for reservations.

Glamping: camping minus lumps
There is only one rule when you're luxury camping in the bush with possums and unfortunately we broke it.
Ushering us up the stairs of our palatial safari-style abode, our host says, "enjoy the bliss, sit back and have a sundowner but please, no food in the camp".
"Our possums are very, very cheeky."
Sure thing, we say, kicking off our city shoes and getting ready to recline, champagne flute in hand, on the porch of the most decked-out tent we've ever seen, a deluxe outdoor suite at Paperbark Camp on the NSW South Coast.

Camping in the UK is a Great Budget Option
Camping in the UK has been described as a "great budget option" by the British Resorts and Destinations Association (Brada) this week.
According to the association, camping is a particularly attractive option for younger people, who have the freedom to get on their bikes with a light backpack and head off into the great unknown.
Peter Hampson, director of Brada, said: "It's equally a great budget option from the more organised family side, because once you’ve bought your tents and all the bits and pieces then it’s an investment that you've got."

Camping on the outskirts of European cities
In our increasingly frantic search for ways to visit Europe inexpensively, campgrounds and camping should not be overlooked.
Almost completely unknown to most American travelers, campgrounds are found on the outskirts of nearly every major European city; indeed, some European cities have as many as a dozen such campgrounds in their outlying areas. And although they are usually in fairly remote neighborhoods, nearly all are on a bus or subway line that can whisk you downtown — and there are still other prime camping spots in historic centers as well.
